Laura Mae Gardner

SIL International & Wycliffe Bible Translators

As members of Wycliffe and the Summer Institute of Linguistics, Dick and Dr. Laura Mae Gardner have translated the New Testament and the JESUS Film into a Mexican language. Following their translation project, they retooled and earned graduate degrees in missions and counseling. During their 12 years of leading the Counseling Department for Wycliffe and SIL, they trained 22 therapists; coached administrators and members through moral issues and the impact of trauma, and developed an array of preventive materials.

Following their counseling responsibilities, they were asked to develop the role of member care (missionary care) for both Wycliffe and SIL. They have served in various leadership roles, including Laura Mae serving as International Vice President for Personnel for Wycliffe and SIL. She serves on the Wycliffe USA board, as well as the MAF-US board. She was recently elected to the MAF International Board. She is an associate member of the World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission serving on the leadership team for global missionary care.

Gardners live in Tucson but travel extensively (approximately 60 countries so far) for debriefings, training, conferences, consulting and trauma care. Gardners are International Personnel Consultants and Trainers for Wycliffe and SIL. They have two married sons and five grandchildren.
