Dr. Laura Mae Gardner

Following their counseling responsibilities, they were asked to develop the role of member care (missionary care) for both Wycliffe and SIL. They have served in various leadership roles, including Laura Mae serving as International Vice President for Personnel for Wycliffe and SIL and serving on the MAF-USA and International Boards. Laura Mae currently serves on the Wycliffe USA board. She is an associate member of the World Evangelical Alliance Mission Commission serving on the leadership team for global missionary care. Gardners live in Tucson but travel extensively (approximately 60 countries so far) for debriefings, training, conferences, consulting and trauma care. Gardners are International Personnel Consultants and Trainers for Wycliffe and SIL. They have two married sons and six grandchildren. |
Dr. John Powell

Dr. John Powell has served missions as a consultant, seminar leader and member of various boards over many years. He is co-founder of the Annual Conference on Mental Health and Missions, co-editor of ENHANCING MISSIONARY VITALITY and researcher in a 15-year study on adult MKs and missionary families. He has served as a visiting professor at other universities and seminaries during his career. Dr. Powell's interests, among other areas, include clinical practice, training and supervision, cross-cultural adaptation, pre-field preparation, debriefing and other areas related to the care of those who carry the Gospel cross-culturally. |
