About Us
Today’s world offers unprecedented opportunities for followers of Christ to share the good news of the gospel. Every week, individuals and families are stepping out in obedience, leaving the comforts of home for ministry assignments around the world.
Providing financial and logistical support to these faithful servants is important, but even more needed in these difficult times is an intentional and strategic ministry of encouragement, pastoral and emotional care. Effective support in these areas can help make sure workers leave the mission field fulfilled instead of burned and empty.
One worker recently back from a mid-term assignment in North Africa shares, “Rejected visas and harsh environments are not the only things that can hinder the advance of the Gospel in restrictive access areas. Unmet pastoral care to missionaries is one of the most critical issues regarding longevity and effectiveness of missions.”
These gaps in care often lead to a high attrition rate among mid- and long-term missionaries. Seeking to help churches, agencies and others working closely with missionaries, a local group of leaders began meeting in 2009 to plan the first Care ConneXion conference.
One unique aspect of this conference is our focus on the four quadrants of missionary care: the church, the agency, the counselors, and the educational institutions that help train and prepare the missionary. Today, Care ConneXion works in partnership with Barnabas International and Mission ConneXion Northwest to continue bringing together leaders from all quadrants, to provide an environment for interaction, encouragement and the challenge to better care for our missionaries.
